“What would we do without you?!” I must admit, while I have always loved working with children, it feels good to hear that my work as a Nanny is not only appreciated but can also be highly beneficial for the parents and the maintenance of the overall family harmony. Over the last five years, I have been a loving friend, an educator, a protector, a disciplinarian, a mediator, a driver, and a playmate for many children growing up in various family dynamics, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and structures. Have I seen it all? Not really, but what I have experienced is how valuable a Nanny can be not only for you as a parent but also for your family, no matter what type of family you are.
While I have been with most of my families for several years, I have been asked by some of them to stay overnight in order for the parents to get a well-deserved good night’s rest. Since I am also a student, I agreed to a weekend night here or there and was surprised to see what my help did for the family. Not only, were Mom and Dad able to sleep through the night, it also improved their overall communication and harmony. Having a new baby is a wonderful and exciting time in the life of a parent, but we all know how challenging it can be for your physical and even mental wellbeing. Lack of sleep causes parents and siblings to be stressed, irritated and overall exhausted. And while parents always love having their new baby home, let’s be honest, what they truly desire is a good night’s rest every now and then. So, over the last couple of years, I have provided my families with the service of overnight care helping them to be happy and healthy.
How does the overnight care help them? Well, what I have experienced is the fact that once parents get the chance for some relaxing snooze time, while their trusted Nanny is there for the baby in the night, they wake up in the morning being relaxed and refreshed with a clear mind for a new exciting day with the new member of the family. A carefree sleep for mom and dad means less stress and frustration from daily challenges and an increase in family harmony. And let’s not forget: a happy family also means a happy Nanny!Share
